Nightlife in Hanoi - Hanoi Travel Guide

Hanoi dœes not have the reputation for nightlife that is associated with certain other popular SE Asian cities however its local residents and its expat population know how to enjoy themselves and with the addition of a steady stream of tourists, the city manages to maintain a reasonably impressive scene.

Hanoi Nightlife for tourists

Hanoi Nightlife
If you are a part of the younger tourist/backpacker crowd, then you shouldn’t have too much of a problem finding a venue at which to kick back with a few beers among likeminded characters and a good selection of locals also.
Bars specifically aimed at the city’s resident and visiting western population are popular and anyone arriving in Hanoi on a stop as part of the whole SE Asian circuit will quickly find them by word of mouth.
Venues such as Relax Bar, Apocalypse Now, Funky Monkey and the Spotted Crow are a safe bet if you want an English speaking crowd while nightclubs such as New Century and Paradise club, draw a mixed crowd. These are found near Hoan Kiem Lake, several on one dog-legged lane.
For the older crowd, the city’s quality hotels generally feature bars where you can grab a drink of an evening with other western guests. Prices in these bars do tend to be somewhat over inflated however. Alternatives include venues such as Jaccs on Hai Ba Trung or Bobby Chins on Ba Trieu where more mature and sophisticated crowds tend to gather.
The communist imposed values of the politburo meant that Hanoians are somewhat conservative and the city is not known for karaoke bars, discos and other frivolous entertainment.
